Poets of Pain by Stephen Jarrell Williams

Writing it down
the way we are

poets of pain
not cry babies

but feeling it
others and ourselves

Coke bottles fizzing
over the top of our souls

taste of sugar
acid melt

on the sticky table
beside our manuscripts

flapping like fish.
