Another Day Older by Robert Beveridge

His boss was into frottage
but of course
he couldn’t make
the sexual harassment charge stick
so off it was
third job lost this year

what am I doing wrong? he asked himself
again

how beautiful his blood smelled
as if collected next to the tomato
he’d cut
for his sandwich
one more slice
then another

they found him
with his tongue impaled
and a smile on his face

Robert Beveridge makes noise (xterminal.bandcamp.com) and writes poetry just outside Cleveland, OH. Recent/upcoming appearances in Pulsar, Tessellate, and Scarlet Leaf Review, among others.
