The Injury by Jay Passer

have you figured it out?
life is plastic
it’s all about what you consume
packaged perfectly

these egregious companies
don’t even need to advertise

choke out the oceans with trash
sea turtles swallow advertising

imagine a poet more popular
than the POTUS

wash those mushrooms
with nuclear deterrents

I got it down ever since I needed crutches
the kind that make you stand out in a crowd
lurching around and with more pain
in the armpits than the fractured metatarsal

that foot miles ahead of the rest of them
it puts a grin on the face

of statues and sculptures and all kinds of
abstract art
