Castanets by David J. Thompson

My girlfriend is learning to play
the castanets. Her teacher is
a very old man from Granada.
She says if you mention Lorca to him,
he’ll take out a silk handkerchief
to wipe the tears from his eyes,
then whisper sobbingly in Spanish,
Always remember, you play the castanets
more with your heart than with your hands.
