Half and Half, but this Ain’t Coffee by Ryan Quinn Flanagan

There are so many Johns pulling up to the curb
you’d think they would run a valet service or something.
The girls all friendly as razor wire and packing.
Wedding rings tucked into socks as though even the almighty
takes a sabbatical.
The johns negotiating the girls down if they can,
flashing pictures of their children to disarm the girls,
to show what good family men they all are.
And the girls, the real pros playing their tricks
for inflation.
Making men dream is the hustle:
if he wants a hand job, it will be the best hand job,
if he wants to fuck, the same…
The dark hides the scars and the sores.
And there’s a fiend about of late.
Strangles the girls with their own dainties
and smashes their heads in with rocks.
It’s real cat and mouse.
Who takes who, and for how much.
Night after night.
Forever.
