Drinking To Forget by Michael Zone

I would like to talk with you
about the big beat
and the diamond cutter of mercy
but you decided to walk away
needle tracks along your thighs
candy striped eyes
as I lit a fire under the spoon
the long goodbyes of strange pilgrims
bemoaning the ever inverted tides
of a thousand unstable tomorrows
