… As, Deep In Thought… My Eyes Devour ‘The Death Of Chatterton’ Painting by Paul Tristram

I was mesmerized at first glance.
I feel it pulling me inwards
to a yesteryear unknown,
yet, strangely familiar.
The tunnel-like depth,
erupting in calm explosion.
Something has happened
seconds ago,
after the poison bottled hand
dropped and the heartbeat stopped.
There was a ‘Happening’,
I can feel it in my bones.
There’s a ghost of an echo…
still there,
I can almost see it,
a trace of an hourglass
becoming redundant in the distance.
A ‘Walking Away’
entangled in a
‘Lying Quietly Still’.
A limp surrender
to deeper dreams and mindscapes,
whilst at the same time
switching off the chattering external noise.
I sense burgundy everywhere,
light gently caressing the dark…
and a powerful need for returning.
