Digitechtonic-mystic Trembles by Debarun Sarkar

As the nightly mystics recited words of wisdom
in their shaman-like postures and tone,
the crematory grounds vibrated with the chants,
the hand-drums, the clapping of the body parts–
on a November night of curiosity mixed with
smokes of hopeless belief.

The first signs of the early dark blue sky
like the first scene of Black Friday
brought forward association of the phrase–
morning trance, picked up from psytrance
coolies of beats,
the morning brings with it a sense of
the absurd mystic foretelling generalizing
the digital, the ethnic, and the religious
with the ringing of the default Android

Debarun Sarkar sleeps, eats, reads, smokes, drinks, labors and occasionally writes and submits them. Recent works have appeared or are forthcoming in Visitant, Off the Coast, The Opiate, Literary Orphans, Rat’s Ass Review, The Sunflower Collective, A Story in 100 Words, Aainanagar, among others.
