Something In The Eyes by Melanie Browne

I just can’t
Stop looking at vintage
photos on ebay and Etsy
or at garage sales,
there is always
something in the eyes
a pain of some kind
a longing for
a notion
maybe its
the desire
to fly,
to run with the bulls
& escape a goring
a beautiful dress
made of satin or silk
a sash full of diamonds
a world without sickness
a frog in a pail
a woman’s hips
a man’s strength
whatever it is
I just can’t
stop looking

Melanie Browne is a poet and fiction writer living in Texas. She has poetry at Madswirl, Bad Acid Poetry, In Between Hangovers and the now defunct Dead Snakes. She spends too much time looking at ghost photos on EBay, reading Wikipedia articles on old west Outlaws, and cataloging her fears for future generations.
