Eagle Scout by Jay Passer

Through blinking velvet cobalt
Past clamoring tourism and bone marrow chill
Cement shoes destiny shaped
Playtime undermined by misbegotten success
Led him up the steps to the great span of the Golden Gate
And other cumulative ideologies
It took about 10 seconds to learn to fly
Though in the morning papers
It was reported a leap
Followed by a fall
A shadowy obit penned on
The slippery ceiling of surfaces
Looking out past Alcatraz
