Tigers Bite And So Do Court Fines by Paul Tristram

I won’t apologise to anyone,
the community service hours
will be uncomfortable
but I’ll do them.
The fines they give me
will split apart
my weekends
but I’ll do them.
And one sunny day
you’ll be in town
with a new girlfriend
and I’ll do you again
a bit better
than I did before.
Then these present fines
will seem child like
yet smile worthy
as the police
dance around you
beneath me
and I cast
the shield of justice
to sever
its antagonist.
