Undone by Cynthia Bryant

poke a hole
push through the viscera
make haste if you have hopes
in finding me
hidden here
among her haven
of inhospitality

mere mackerel
afloat in soured brine
unaware
of the reason
for the barrage of hate
that batters me about

cold metal
shiny and sharp
flashes up the shadows
painstakingly
to cast about
parts
they tear from me

slice and gut
slice and gut
