Mabou, Winter 2000 by William Doreski

The aqua tint of snow and sky
foreshadows the reclamation
of the whole post-glacial planet.

Braced by subtle geometries
the house stands understated
against the blank green distance,

Photography often simplifies
the angles at which objects
meet the most severe weather.

Tinting everything aqua
eases us into horizons
we otherwise couldn’t plumb.

William Doreski's work has appeared in various e and print journals and in several collections, most recently The Suburbs of Atlantis (AA Press, 2013
